A goal on his debut from Nicky Forster got Town's season off to a winning start as Cardiff were defeated 1-0 at Portman Road. The summer signing from Reading netted from a Darren Currie freekick just after the hour.

Nicky Forster netted twice as the Blues continued their winning start to pre-season with a 5-2 win at Boston's York Street. Owen Garvan, Jim Magilton and an Alan White own goal completed the Town scoring, while Jason Lee and Daryl Clare were on the scoresheet for the Pilgrims.

Winger Jaime Peters and the Canada U20 side kick-off their FIFA World Youth Championship campaign with a game against Syria in Tilburg, Holland on Sunday. Peters, 18, is expected to formally sign on with Town soon after pre-season training starts on July 4th.

Keeper Kelvin Davis says that Sunderland still have a chance of signing him despite the deal appearing stalled after talks last week. The Blues agreed what chairman David Sheepshanks described as a “seven-figure fee” with the Black Cats last week and the former England U21 headed to the North-East to start negotiations.

Skipper Jim Magilton is Town's only doubt ahead of Saturday's trip to Gillingham. The Northern Irishman was substituted with a small calf tear at half-time in the 6-0 destruction of Nottingham Forest and missed the 1-0 win at Cardiff on Tuesday.
